International Games

There were three international games Tuesday at basketball camp.

In women's action, Lithuania  raced out to an early lead and defeated Ukraine 37-17. Lithuania's height was too much the Ukrainians to handle.

Both of the men's games were very close, and both were come-from-behind victories. Team USA was hot from beyond the three-point line in the first half and pulled away to a big halftime lead vs. Lithuania 2. But the Lithuanians came out hot in the second half. They actually took at lead late in the game at 37-36. But the Americans hit their shots late and won 42-39.

In the other game, Belarus overcame a big deficit to defeat host Poland 42-36. It's hard to say how they did so much better than in their first contest, a 61-30 loss to Lithuania 1. The only hint we have is that Coach Vitaly Valui played in the first game, but he stayed on the sidelines in the second game. They say the best coaches come from the worst players. What are we saying, Vitaly?
