Tight Game in International Competition

One of the highlights on the first day of competition was the "international friendly" between Lithuania 2 and the Ukraine, won by Lithuania 49-45 in overtime. In the other game, Lithuania 1 defeated Belarus 61-30 (not in overtime).

The Lithuania 2 vs. Ukraine game was tied at 38 at the end of regulation, but Lithuanians connected on more foul shots in the overtime period. Both teams connected on three-point attempts, but it wasn't enough for the Ukranians to prevail.

Fresh off their defeat of the Belarusians, the Lithuania 1 players lined the sideline, encouraging their countrymen to persevere with chants of "Lie-tu-va! Lie-tu-va!"

I would like to tell you the leading scorers, but we don't keep individual stats. Let it suffice to say that a lot of tall guys wearing dark blue were just a bit tougher down the stretch than an equally high number of tall guys wearing gold. Both squads look like prime candidates to give Lithuania 1 a run for the title.
